Pelicano Coffee | Brighton

1/30/2015

On the grossest of rainy days I decided it was high time I headed into the Laines and tried the new coffee house - Pelicano Coffee. It is the brain child and hard work of a friend of mine and so it was about time I went along to see what it was all about - what I found there surpassed everything I'd hoped for...

The inside is a cool relaxing mix of cream and grey walls and furniture and the first thing you're greeted with as you walk in is the most amazing smell of hot coffee and an incredible selection of in-house baked cakes and treats and freshly filled baguettes and bagels! The whole place looks and feels gorgeous.

We bought 3 drinks and four cakes and the whole order came to £15 - in comparison to a coffee shop chain these are amazing prices and the quality of the food and service is way higher than anywhere like your run of the mill Costa or Starbucks.
Between three of us we had :

  • 1 Latte
  • 1 Breakfast Tea
  • 1 Americano with hot milk
  • 1 Blueberry Muffin
  • 1 Orange and Poppyseed Muffin
  • 1 Peanut Butter Brownie
  • 1 Cinnamon Donut

There wasn't a single thing that could be faulted, everything was finished to such perfection. The coffee was gorgeous and nice and hot when it arrived, even the little teaspoons that come with it are lovely and unique. The peanut butter brownie was so fresh and crumbly and the muffins were bursting with flavour and packed with blueberries and poppy seeds.
The cinnamon donuts seem to be a real favourite, I've already seen people buzzing about them online and they are absolutely right to do so - at 2 for £2 you can't go wrong and they're a perfect size to have with a coffee or hot chocolate.

As you can see, the service and presentation is really cute and clearly a lot of thought has gone into the customers opinion of Pelicano. For a first time visit I couldn't have asked for anything more and I will definitely be making it a frequent trip - it's perfect for lunch with fresh salt beef bagels and baguettes with various fillings. Very accommodating and friendly staff and I'd say if you live in Brighton then it's somewhere you should aim to visit ASAP! Also, if you don't live in Brighton then what better excuse for a first time trip!

Pelicano House can be found at 28 Sydney Street, Brighton and on Twitter and Facebook too! Why not pop in and try their treats for yourself? I promise you won't be disappointed!
