Halloweek | Day Three | Pumpkin Spice Latte and Molten Nutella Hot Chocolate

10/27/2015

Day 3 of Halloweek is here and it's another recipe post - I've really enjoyed finding fun things to make and these were a quick alternative to regular coffee or tea as a yummy autumn drink!

MOLTEN NUTELLA HOT CHOCOLATE

Take your Nutella and put in a microwaveable bowl with a small amount of milk - this isn't for the whole hot chocolate it's just to melt the Nutella properly. I would say 2 and a half tablespoons of Nutella per person is a good estimate.

Microwave for a minute, take out and stir and microwave for another minute and a half.

Pour your melted Nutella in your mason jar or mug.

Heat 200ml of milk either in a pan or in the microwave - estimate microwaving the milk for three minutes, stopping to check it half way through.

Pour your hot milk into the mason jar with the Nutella and stir it all together.

You can decorate however you like, the whipped cream is optional (but seriously recommended) and my sister and I kept with the Halloween theme and went for bat sprinkles on top!

PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE

I can't take much credit for the Pumpkin Spice Latte, I don't like coffee much, but I do have a little sister who is obsessed with them so she helped me out with this. You need ground cinnamon, ground ginger and either mixed spice or Chai Latte mix as well as ground coffee and milk.

You need a scoop and a half of coffee if you're using a cafetiere - if you're using instant coffee then just make enough to fill half a mug.

You need one teaspoon of ground cinnamon, half a teaspoon of ginger and a teaspoon of Chai Latte powder - mix it all up in the mason jar.

Add your coffee to the mason jar, stirring as you pour.

Add 100ml of warm or cold milk and once it's all mixed together you can decorate with whatever you like - again, we went for whipped cream and a sprinkling of cinnamon powder.

All in all these worked out really well and I definitely think I'll be making them again (especially the hot chocolate) they're both really quick and easy and you can adapt it however you want. If you give either of these recipes a go, make sure you share the photos with me to show me how you did it!
