Halloweek | Day Two | The Best Halloween TV Specials

I am a self confessed wimp - I HATE horror movies, to the point where I can count the ones I've watched on one hand and am completely convinced that if I watch enough I'll end up in one - I am not taking that chance. However, despite hating horror I do love Halloween and I especially like Halloween specials on TV shows - I think they're a cool step out from the ongoing story without the full on fear factor of a scary movie!

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS 

'The First Secret, 'This Is A Dark Ride', 'Grave New World', 'We Love You To DeAth'

'Pretty Little Liars' is pretty staple Halloween TV show - it's got all the jump scares and twisted storylines and every single Halloween episode takes it one step further. The Halloween PLL episodes often step away from the running story, a couple are set in the past with Allison but all of them bring the scares! 

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER 

'Fear, Itself'

Buffy The Vampire Slayer is up there with my top TV shows of all time, and 'Fear, Itself' is one of the reasons. In Buffy-verse Halloween is not the scariest night of the year - it's the night where all the Vampires and Ghoulies go into hiding and wait for all the trick or treaters to go away. Despite this the gang find themselves in a real life house of horrors and battle it out with their own personal demons - it's amazing, it's Halloween themed and Anya is dressed a giant bunny - really what more could you want? 

GLEE 

'Rocky Horror Glee Show'

'Glee' doesn't actually have a specific Halloween episode, but the 'Rocky Horror Glee Show' is as close as it gets and I love this one! We get to hear Emma Pilsbury sing for (what I believe is) the first time and everyone is in amazing costume and doing musical theatre - epic. 

MODERN FAMILY 

'Halloween', 'Open House of Horrors', 'AwesomeLand'

I think Modern Family does Halloween episodes better than any other series on TV and I love all three of themed episodes - I'm hoping for one in series 7 too! I love that it's Claire's moment to lose her cool and be the 'edgy' one and that the rest of the family are all scrambling to keep up with her. The writers and producers do an amazing job at thinking up the storylines and to date 'Halloween' is still my favourite of the three! 

NEW GIRL 

'Halloween'

In the Halloween episode of 'New Girl' Jess has a temporary job at a Haunted House and is trying to make her relationship more serious, Schmidt is trying to win CeCe back and Nick battles his demons inside Jess' haunted house! It's a winner and packed with every weird and wonderful thing you'd expect from this cast.

SCREAM QUEENS 

So I technically don't have one specific episode of Scream Queens - I'd recommend binge watching all the episodes to date and then obsessively reading all the online rumours of who the Red Devil is - but each to their own. It premiered in the UK last night on E4 so you can catch it on 4od and if you're lucky enough to be in the US then you're already weeks ahead of us and I'm officially jealous!
